Getting back to our Roots.....

Ma hala!! I know, it's been quite some time since I have updated this beautiful blog. However, I have noticed a trend. Apparently, when we plan to take some time and road trip, I lose my time for blogging. I have had many ideas, and will use them in the coming weeks. So....what have we been up to? We've had Kindergarten, Roots Festival, Fish Frys and feeding ourselves. It's been a busy few weeks.

Olivia has started Kindergarten. She is an afternoon Kindergartner, which means that she is forced to relinquish the few naps a week that she was taking. She is very excited! She rides a bus, she gets homework, she is growing up! Here's Olivia on her second day of Kindergarten. Why the second day, you ask? Because I have to scan in the pictures that her pre-school teacher took from the first day, and will post them later. :-)

Here we are at the Roots Festival in Paola, KS. We went last weekend to Kansas and visited my dad for the Roots Festival and Trumbly Family Fish Fry. We all had a good time, even though I didn't get much sleep and picked up a sun-burn on the only cloudy day that we had. It was rather chilly, which was hard to pack for. Mia did develop a bit of a cold, but she was great in the car. Derrick flew in from New York as well. Below, Olivia is playing on a horse on the square. Most likely, Derrick and I both played on this horse when we were little. If you look in the back ground, you can see Derrick in his super cool aviator shades, Tony and BJ on the bench while I took the picture. Mia's in the stroller behind Olivia.
The three L's: Lance, Liv, and Logan. Did I tell you? Olivia has decided that she no longer wants to be Olivia, but it's Liv now.
Here's Liv with her face painted. She had a flower around each eye and another little flower on her nose. Very cute and very girly.
She fell asleep shortly thereafter and then had the flowers on her arm too. Don't ask how she fell asleep with all the bands playing, but she is a very talented little girl.
Here is Mia and her Grandpa. This was Grandpa's first time meeting Mia. Mia had a great time and she really enjoyed being around everyone.
Mia is growing up as well. Below, her first meal that she fed herself. Cottage cheese and apple bits. She loves feeding herself. She's an independant little woman!

Lastly, here's Derrick walking the horse marionette that Grandpa bought for Olivia. He walked this through the crowds at the Roots Festival. It was rather amusing.
