The Time Continuum....

Did I spell that right?  I don't really, care, just thought I should pretend to.

I was thinking today (I know, it happens sometimes) about time.  Remember when you were little?  Playing Barbies, watching the Dukes of Hazard, calling who gets to be Daisy, trying to fit your Barbies in their Trans Am.  Seriously, I couldn't grow up fast enough.

Then, I got a little older.  Remember the pre-teen years?  Saved by the Bell, sleepovers, french rolling your jeans, wanting to be DJ Tanner, being all amazed that such and such girl kissed such and such boy - with her tongue!  I couldn't grow up fast enough.

I got a little older still. Remember the teen years?  Hmmm, let's not.  Some things are best left un-remembered.  Suffice it to say, I could not get out of my teen years fast enough.

Then, I got a little older.  I hit my 20's and life became way more fun!  I was in college, working, hanging out with friends.  I met my future husband, we dated, and dated, and dated, and got married.  Then, I had kids.

Remember when your kids were really little and you couldn't wait for them to sit up, walk, talk, feed themselves, wipe their own butts?  I couldn't wait for them to grow up.

This weekend my phone rang.  I answered it, knowing that it was Olivia's friends mom.  A little voice said "Hello?  Is Olivia there?"  Um, ok.  I mean, it's not MY CELL PHONE or anything.  So, we were out.  So, we have a house phone still.  Shouldn't the house phone be for Olivia?  Now she's taking over my cell?  She's only 7 right?

Oh God!  She's 7 (and a half)!

When did this happen?  Are sleep overs coming?  Boys? BOYS? Mean girls? Humiliation? Saturday Night Live - for her, not me? Oh God, not the teen years! Please stop this growing up thing!!  If not, can we just fast forward to her 20's?
