So, last night we took Mia to her first ever baseball game!! Whoot!! Living in Chicagoland, there are an abundance of baseball teams, minor league and major to choose from - The Cubs, White Sox, Boomers, Cougars, and The Slammers. We are closest to the The Slammers, and the tickets are cheap, so we went to opening night.
The Slammers are in Joliet. And Joliet is famous for its prisons (aka The Slammer - get it?). We have Statesville, the Maximum Security Prison where John Wayne Gacey was executed (only about 5 miles down the road from my high school - I was a sophomore when he was executed). We have the old juvey made famous both in Blues Brothers (remember Joliet Jake?) and from Prison Break (if memory serves).
Famous for jails....hmmmm...
Anyway - this did make for some fun mascots, Jailbird and Spike as well as The Clink, a sporting goods store. Fun with names, I guess.
We had great seats, and even got to see fireworks at the end. The Slammers won (root, root, root for the home team). I think the girls were most excited to eat there. I'll admit, I was excited for a burger and beer.
They figured it out and turned around. Picture ruined. Grrrr....
Our seat. Literally, 4th row from the dugout.
The mascots came and danced on the dugout - Jailbird and Spikes. Mia kept wanting Spikes to come to her and called him like a dog. It was kinda amusing.
Picture with Jailbird!
This time while looking at the camera.
Olivia getting in on the action.
Just kinda liked the way this was out of focus, kinda haloed.
Pic with mommy and a hot dog. Daddy was chastised by Mia because she had specified ketchup and cheese, and there was no cheese.
Mommy and Olivia.
Poser.
The best picture of the three of them.
FIREWORKS (apparently, I need to work on my ability to photograph fireworks).
Mia out take 1- I think she liked the hot dog.
Mia out take 2 - she looks inebriated. Don't worry, only Tony and I had beers.
Because it's only right to share - Here are pics from Olivia's first baseball game, at US Cellular Field to see the White Sox play the Detroit Tigers. I don't know who won.
I do remember that Olivia ate so many peanuts, her tummy hurt and she pooped peanut butter. Memories.
Welcome to Spring, ya'll!
